Things got ugly fast in UCLA football’s 56-6 loss at Indiana on Saturday afternoon. The game was just two plays old when Nico Iamaleava threw a pick six that gave the Hoosiers a lead they would never relinquish. Indiana jumped out to a 35-3 halftime lead and cruised the rest of the way.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for UCLA after the Bruins dropped their first four games of the 2025 season. How did Iamaleava perform in the blowout loss?
Not particularly well. Iamaleava completed just 13-of-27 passes for 113 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. The redshirt freshman quarterback’s 4.2 yards per attempt were a shockingly low number. Iamaleava added 28 yards on seven rushes.

The final stats were as lopsided as the final score. Indiana totaled 475 total yards to UCLA’s 201 total yards. Indiana recorded 27 total first downs while Indiana totaled only 12 first downs.
Now through eight games this season, Iamaleava has completed 135-of-207 passes for 1,355 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s added 360 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
Compare that to Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar who has completed 166-of-252 passes for 2,344 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions in the Vols’ first eight games of the season. He’s also rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
UCLA is off next week before concluding its 2025 season with matchups against Nebraska, Ohio State, Washington and USC. The Bruins need to go 3-1 to conclude the season if they’re going to make a bowl game this season.
Tennessee remains in the College Football playoff hunt but has no room for error in the final month of the season, needing to run the table Oklahoma, New Mexico State, Florida and Vanderbilt if they’re going to make it back to the playoffs.
