Tennessee football is officially bringing back the all-black uniforms this Saturday for its game against Oklahoma. The Vols have dubbed it ‘Dark Mode’ and are 4-1 under Josh Heupel in these games and 3-0 since the introduction of the fully black helmets.
With the atmosphere expected to be one of the best of the season at Neyland Stadium, there’s already a buzz around Knoxville. During media availabilities, players were asked about their expectations for the crowd and their thoughts on the black uniforms.

“I’m expecting a Dark Mode Neyland and everybody knows how that is. It’s going to be real electric, chaotic, a little bit of everything. And it’s Halloween, so I guess it’ll be a little bit spooky.”
“I’m very excited. We started wearing the black helmet this week, so I’m pumped for it.”
“Night game against a great team like Oklahoma. Black out, Dark Mode. This is what you come to Tennessee for and this is what college football is all about.”
“Love these jerseys. We only wear it once, so it’s definitely super special. It’s around Halloween, so it’s a great opportunity to wear it. Dark jerseys, night game against a great opponent, we’re very excited.”
“I love the black uniforms. They hide my muffin top a little bit, so that’s nice. I already know Neyland is going to be a huge factor in this game in our favor. And first night game in Neyland, I’m really excited for it.”
“We haven’t had a nighttime in Neyland this year, so everybody is excited. It’s just the vibes, the crowd, energy, everybody feeds off of it so it’s real fun.”
“Everybody likes wearing the black.”
