This past Saturday at Kentucky, Tennessee football did whatever it wanted to on offense. The Vols threw for nearly 400 yards and used a strong rush attack to stay balanced. On one run in the third quarter, Tennessee got some great blocking to free up Peyton Lewis.
With the ball at the Wildcats’ 10 on 2nd-and-goal, the Vols came out in 12 personnel with a tight end attached to the left side of the line and Miles Kitselman a step back of the line on the right side. Kitselman pulled on the run play to the left and drilled a defender into the ground to open up a hole.
With the other tight end, Jack Van Dorselaer, sticking his block, it gave left tackle Lance Heard the chance to meet a defender looking to make a play from across the formation. Heard lowered his shoulder and sent the defender to the ground to help Lewis scamper six yards to the UK four-yard line.
The next play was defensive holding, followed by a Lewis rushing touchdown to take a 49-21 lead in the third quarter.

According to PFF, Heard earned a PFF grade of 65.8 for the game. This included an 81.8 mark in pass blocking and a 58.3 mark in run blocking. He has started every game at left tackle and has played nearly every competitive snap, only being subbed out for a handful of plays at Alabama due to an injury.
As a junior, Heard is eligible to be drafted after this season. The former five-star spent one year at LSU, then transferred to UT, where he earned the role of starting left tackle for last year’s College Football Playoff team.
Kitselman earned a PFF grade of 63.4 in the game. His pass blocking grade was at 68.1, while his run blocking was up to 75.3 in the contest. This is his final season of eligibility after he took advantage of the JUCO ruling this offseason.
