Tennessee football has a big recruiting opportunity this weekend when it hosts Oklahoma for a top-20 clash. Along with four-star Wisconsin running back commit Amari Latimer, the Vols are hosting UCLA four-star offensive line commit Micah Smith in an attempt to flip his commitment.
According to a report from Steve Wiltfong on Rivals, it will be an official visit to Knoxville. The class of 2026 prospect has previously visited Tennessee in March of 2025 for an unofficial visit, as well.
UT initially offered Smith in September of 2023. He placed Tennessee in his top six in November of 2024. In April of 2025, after his visit during the spring, Glen Elarbee, UT’s offensive line coach, visited him at his home in Florida, as well.
However, he committed to UCLA and DeShaun Foster over Tennessee, Ohio State, South Carolina, Oregon and Miami in June. Foster was promptly fired after a poor start to the season, but Smith has held onto his commitment. His visit to the Vols could be an opening to pull him away, though.
Thank you Coach Elarbee @Gelarbee for stopping by and spending time with my family. #GoVols #GBO 🍊 pic.twitter.com/m8MN8fQEkb

More From RTI: Three Numbers to Know When Tennessee Football Plays Oklahoma
Smith ranks as the No. 219 player in the country, according to 247 composite rankings. He is the No. 13 interior offensive lineman and No. 29 player from the state of Florida. He is out of Vero Beach, where he plays for Vero Beach High School. 247 lists him at 6-foot-5.5 and 325 pounds in his senior year.
“Experienced prep offensive lineman with the ideal blend of height, weight and length that warrants a look on the outside, but might ultimately be better suited for an interior posting,” 247 director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote. “Flashes impressive knock-back pop with his punch and has the lateral quickness to dispatch assignments on short pulls in a zone-blocking scheme. A bit tight in the knees, but can get underneath defenders and take them for a ride. Will struggle at times with a sudden charge, but appears to be ahead of the curve in pass protection as he cycles through his transitions and adjusts to his target…”
Tennessee currently holds one commitment from a prospect who is considered an interior offensive lineman. Three-star Edward Baker out of Baltimore projects to play guard. However, the Vols also hold commitments from five-star tackle Gabriel Osenda and four-star tackle Kamari Blair, as well.
The class, which features 23 commitments, ranks as the No. 4 group in the country on 247‘s rankings.
