Tennessee football remains firmly in the mix for one of the top recruits in the 2027 class, who is playing high school football right in the Vols’ backyard. Just a couple hours’ drive west, five-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman has continued to raise his stock for Brentwood Academy. On Thursday, he released his updated list of 10 schools he’s considering attending for college.
This included Tennessee alongside Ohio State, Miami, Oregon, LSU, Vanderbilt, USC, Texas, Alabama and Texas A&M. That’s six SEC schools, three Big Ten teams and one ACC program.
Bowman ranks as the No. 29 player in the cycle, according to 247 composite rankings. That’s good for five-star status as he’s the No. 5 wide receiver and No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee. The only player ranked above him in the Volunteer State is five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, whom the Vols are also fighting for.

Bowman has made the trip to Knoxville multiple times in his recruitment, including a game day visit this season. The proximity gives the Vols an advantage over all of the top schools he listed, besides Vanderbilt, which resides in Nashville.
At Brentwood Academy, Bowman has played on both sides of the ball. At the next level, he projects to play just wide receiver, though. As a sophomore, 247 has him listed with 56 receptions for 1,023 yards and eight touchdowns. Now, he’s in his junior year as he continues to gain traction on the recruiting trail.
UT also recently made the cut of 12 schools for the No. 1-ranked receiver in the 2027 class, Monshun Sales. In the 2026 class, the Vols hold the commitment of No. 1 receiver Tristen Keys, along with five-star Salesi Moa, four-star Tyreek King and four-star Legend Bey.
UT currently holds two commitments in the 2027 class. One is legacy linebacker, JP Peace, grandson of Phillip Fulmer and son of Robert Peace. The other is cornerback Kamauri Whitfield. Both are three-star prospects.
Tennessee is also in the mix for top-10 recruit Cooper Witten. He is a linebacker prospect out of Texas and the son of former Vol star Jason Witten.

People are still trying to say Heup can’t recruit. Has several 5 stars just in 2026. But Rivals brought both Faizon Brandin and Tristen Keys because they hate tennessee. GO VOLS
