Tennessee basketball is hosting a highly touted visitor this weekend as the Vols host Northern Kentucky in their second game of the 2025-26 season. Five-star wing Malachi Jordan is unofficially visiting Tennessee for the game, a source told RTI Thursday afternoon.

*UPDATE: Jordan is no longer visiting Tennessee this weekend for the Northern Kentucky game. The blue-chip recruit is instead visiting family. Tennessee hopes to get him back on campus for an unofficial visit later this season as he remains a major target in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Jordan is a junior in high school and a member of the 2027 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-7 wing ranks as a five-star recruit, the No. 14 player and No. 6 small forward in his class according to the 247sports composite rankings.

This weekend’s trip to Knoxville does not mark Jordan’s first visit to Tennessee. Jordan unofficially visited Tennessee twice last season, first taking in the Vols’ win over Florida and returning for their buzzer beater victory over Alabama just a few weeks later. The blue-chip recruit boasts a number of other offers but his only other visit this fall is to Washington.

Jordan is from White House, Tennessee but plays his prep basketball at Dream City Christian in Scottsdale. The Middle Tennessee native played his freshman prep season at Ensworth in Nashville before transferring to the Link Academy in Missouri for his sophomore year.

Tennessee basketball does not have a commit yet in its 2027 recruiting class though that is unsurprising due to how early in the recruiting cycle it is. The Vols have hosted a handful of 2027 prospects on visits this fall including five-star wing Gabe Nesmith, four-star combo guard LJ Smith, four-star shooting guard RJ Moore and four-star shooting guard Chase Lumpkin.

Rick Barnes and his staff have landed three prospects in the 2026 recruiting cycle to date including four-star wing Ralph Scott, four-star wing Manny Green and three-star point guard Marquis Clark. Tennessee continues to pursue a handful of prospects in the class, most notably five-star point guard Deron Rippey and Miles Sadler.

The Vols’ three-commit 2026 recruiting class currently ranks No. 13 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
