Tennessee football is in position to land the talents of one of the best edge rushers in the country, coming off his decommitment from Texas A&M. Jordan Carter visited the Vols on Nov. 1, the same day he announced his decommitment from the Aggies.
This aligned with the game against Oklahoma. While the Vols fell in the matchup, it did leave a positive impression on recruits across the country who made it to campus. Now, Carter is deciding between UT, Texas, Georgia Tech and Auburn, according to Hayes Fawcett.
Carter also has a reported visit to Auburn for the end of November, meaning his commitment may come closer to the pending early signing day in December. The trip to see the Tigers is an official visit. He has not announced any other visits between the recent trip to Knoxville and the official on The Plains.
Carter was also in Knoxville in the spring. He made the trip to see Josh Heupel’s Tennessee program at the end of March as spring camp neared its end.

The battle for Carter is for one of the best defenders in the class. According to 247‘s rankings, he is the No. 120 player in the country, No. 15 edge rusher and No. 12 player from the state of Georgia. He plays for Douglas County High School in Douglasville, Georgia.
As the cycle gets down to the wire and early signing day looms, Tennessee is in battles to hold onto multiple recruits and attempts to flip recruits from other programs. The Vols have been tied to four-star UCLA offensive lineman commit Micah Smith and four-star Wisconsin running back commit Amari Latimer.
On the other hand, Vols four-star athlete commit Legend Bey is coming off a visit to see Ohio State. He projects to play wide receiver if he sticks with his pledge to Tennessee.
Tennessee’s 2026 class ranks as the No. 4 group in the country, according to 247. This is behind just USC, Alabama and Texas A&M.
