Tennessee football’s second open date of the season allows coaches to get out on the road this weekend to watch high school football games and check in with their top commits and targets. Head coach Josh Heupel started off the weekend that way on Thursday seeing a pair of Tennessee commits and another top target.
Heupel headed south on Interstate-75 to check in at the Baylor School in Chattanooga. A pair of senior Baylor standouts are committed to Tennessee while the Vols staff continues to recruit other players from the instate powerhouse program.

In the 2026 recruiting cycle, four-star offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda and three-star cornerback Jamyan Theodore are each Vol commits. Osenda was one of Tennessee’s first commits in the 2026 cycle, committing back in January. Theodore committed to Tennessee on the first day of July, kicking off a stout month for the Vols on the recruiting trail.

Osenda ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 143 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. He also ranks as the No. 12 offensive tackle and the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Theodore ranks as a three-star recruit, the No. 848 player in the country and No. 25 player in the state of Tennessee in the 2026 cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings.
But the top recruiting prize at the Baylor School currently is in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Heupel and the Vols are hard after five-star running back David Gabriel Georges. He ranks as the No. 18 player and No. 2 running back in the cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings.
Tennessee has long pursued Georges and is one of the top contenders to land him. Ohio State appears to be the Vols’ top competition for the five-star running back at this time.
Baylor posted a perfect 9-0 record in the regular season with one matchup cancelled due to inclement weather. They earned a bye in the opening week of the playoffs and will return to the field next Friday for their postseason opener.
