Former Tennessee offensive lineman Darnell Wright has had some massive blocks for the Chicago Bears this season, but perhaps none have been as visually pleasing as the one he had against the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon.
With linebacker Brian Burns, 6-foot-5, 250 pounds, looking to execute a spin move on the Bears’ third-year right guard out of Tennessee, Wright completely de-cleated the Pro Bowl defender in the middle of his spin. All it took was one well-timed, strong push from Wright to put Burns on his rear end as he flailed around to get back up. Wright even shut that down, too.
The play gave quarterback Caleb Williams enough time to assess his options downfield, escape the pocket to the left, and deliver a strike downfield to move the chains on third down.
When offensive skill players execute the spin move, we love to call that the “spin zone.” But as Warren Sharp put it on Sunday, Wright took Burns to the “No Spin Zone.”

It’s the type of play that’s so visually pleasing that you want to keep watching it over and over again. From the shove that got Burns to the ground to Wright keeping his hands on him so that he’d stay planted, that’s the type of moment that’ll have the group fired up during film study.
The Bears went on to defeat the Giants 24-20 after trailing 20-10 with five minutes left in the game.
Sharp’s video alone has nearly one million views at the time of this publication, about 24 hours later. It may have topped the seven-digit mark by the time you’re reading this, and that’s only one guy’s Twitter account. Search ‘Darnell Wright’ on X and you’ll see people reacting to it left and right.
What’s even crazier is that it wasn’t even the only play in the game in which Wright sent a Giants defender sprawling on the ground. Here’s a look at what he did to safety Tyler Nubin at one point in the game:

Wright’s two pancake blocks on Sunday did two things at the same time. One, it probably sent VFL Kyler Kerbyson of RTI: Pancakes & Bacon into a frenzy as a former lineman himself. Two, it added to the already impressive highlight reel that he’s put together in his junior season in the pros.
Here’s a look at another one of Wright’s viral plays this season:
