Tennessee basketball will be without a starter in its matchup against North Florida on Wednesday night. Shooting guard Bishop Boswell is out for the Vols’ matchup with a right foot injury. The injury is not a long term concern for Boswell, but Tennessee is playing it safe and is holding him out against the Ospreys.
Boswell is not dressed out for pregame warmups ahead of the matchup and was a limited participant in Tennessee’s Tuesday afternoon. Star freshman Nate Ament was also a limited participant in Tuesday’s practice with a left ankle injury but is dressed out available for the matchup against North Florida.
A sophomore guard, Boswell has started in Tennessee’s first two games this season. Boswell is averaging 5.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and one assist while playing 19.5 minutes per game.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard suffered the injury in the second half of the Vols’ win over Northern Kentucky on Saturday. Boswell was in the midst of playing the best game of his young Tennessee career when his foot got stepped on.
More From RTI: What Rick Barnes Said About Tennessee Basketball Signees In 2026 Recruiting Class
“I thought Bishop did a really good job,” Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes said postgame. “I thought he was again locked in defensively, he works so hard on shooting so it was great to see that go in for him which is huge. And he would have played more in the second half, but got his foot stepped on. We just felt like we didn’t need to do it.”
With Boswell sidelined, it’s uncertain who will start for Tennessee at shooting guard against North Florida. Ethan Burg, Amaree Abram and Troy Henderson are all averaging over 10 minutes per game playing predominantly at shooting guard.
Burg leads that trio with 16 minutes per game so far this season. However, Burg has served as the backup point guard as well which could affect whether Tennessee would start him at shooting guard.
Tipoff between Tennessee and North Florida is at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday night. Andy Brock and Steve Hamer are on the call for the SEC Network+.
