Tennessee football quarterback commit Faizon Brandon has missed most of his senior season with an injury that he suffered in his season opener back in August. Brandon returned from injury last night and shined while Grimsley defeated West Cabarrus 42-7 in the second round of the playoffs.
It did not take Brandon long to get back into a groove. On the very first offensive play for Grimsley, Brandon uncorked a bomb for a 75-yard touchdown.

Brandon wasn’t done with the long touchdown to open the game. The blue-chip quarterback threw three first half touchdowns as Grimsley jumped out to a significant lead and cruised the rest of the way. Check out all three touchdown passes here.

Brandon ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 7 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound signal caller also ranks as the No. 3 quarterback and the top player in the state of North Carolina in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
247sports own rankings are even higher on Brandon, tabbing him as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Brandon is a longtime Tennessee commit, choosing the Vols over Alabama, LSU and North Carolina state back in August 2024. He was the Vols’ second commit in the class and is now one of two five stars in the class along with highly touted receiver Tristen Keys who flipped from LSU to Tennessee in August 2025.
Grimsley and Brandon now advance to the third round of the North Carolina playoffs where they’ll face Jack Britt High School next Friday night.
