Tennessee football’s clash against New Mexico State marks the final regular-season out-of-conference clash of the season for the Vols. Due to it not being an SEC showdown, there is no availability report heading into the game to detail who and who will not be available.

However, we’re still able to get an idea of who will play and who won’t by seeing who is warming up ahead of the game. Here is what you need to know ahead of the 4:15 p.m. ET kickoff, airing on SEC Network from Neyland Stadium.

CB Rickey Gibson III

Rickey Gibson, after suffering an injury early in the season opener against Syracuse, is not dressed out for the game against the Aggies. When asked the Monday following the win over the Orange, Josh Heupel gave some discouraging news.

“Rickey will be out for an extended period here,” Heupel said. “How long, I don’t have the exact timeline on. But he’ll be out for an extended time.”

Gibson entered his junior year as a second-year starter with high expectations. He was named a Preseason All-SEC Third-Team member by Athlon. As a sophomore, he produced 32 tackles, two tackles for loss, five passes defended and a forced fumble.

CB Jermod McCoy

Jermod McCoy, a preseason All-American and projected first-round draft pick, also isn’t dressed out. He suffered an offseason ACL injury and returned to practice in a limited form this fall.

There is no clear timeline for his return at this point. Heupel commented on the chance he could be back sooner than later this past Wednesday.

“I think with the injury in his rehab process, it’s how he encounters the next phase and the next stage as he continues to prepare himself and get ready to play,” Heupel said. “I saw him the other day and he is going through his rehab. He looks really good. His moving skills are good. It’s a progression throughout the course of the end of summer and through training camp. We’ll figure that out as we get into the season. Keep it in mind, obviously, we want him, he’s a huge part of us defensively, but his short-term and long-term health, as well.”

WR Travis Smith Jr.

Freshman receiver Travis Smith Jr. suffered an injury in preparation for the game against Arkansas and has been held out since. He is not warming up again ahead of the game vs. NMSU.

Smith has been one of the first receivers off the bench, but has only played sparingly in SEC games. He’ll be forced to sit out another week with the upper-body injury, as well.

LB Arion Carter

Arion Carter has been the starting weak-side linebacker for Tennessee this season. He is battling turf toe, though, which has forced him to be limited in recent contests. He is not dressed out.

DB Boo Carter

Boo Carter was not spotted on the sideline during warmups.

DL Joshua Josephs

Star edge rusher Joshua Josephs was not dressed out for the game. He has been the starter at LEO this season.
