A trio of Tennessee baseball outfielders entered the transfer portal on Monday following the conclusion of the Vols’ fall practice, a UT spokesperson confirmed to RTI. Redshirt freshmen Jaxon Walker and Brennon Seigler entered the portal as did true freshman Alex Bedford.

All three players were instate natives with Walker playing his prep baseball at Loudon, Seigler playing his prep baseball at Farragut and Bedford playing at Lawrence County.

Both Walker and Seigler were members of Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class and redshirted last season. Walker was the No. 94 player in the 2024 recruiting cycle while Seigler was the No. 311 player according to Perfect Game.

Bedford was the No. 449 player in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to Perfect Game. He spent fall practice in Knoxville before entering the portal. All three players flashed at times this fall but none projected  as serious contributors for Tennessee this spring.

With the new roster limitations due to the House Settlement, Tennessee has to trim its roster a bit before the start of the 2026 season. The scholarship total is not universal across the sport so it’s unclear exactly how many roster spots Tennessee has to clear but we expect at least one more player to enter the portal.

While outgoing transfers can enter the portal right now, they have to transfer down a level to be eligible to play during the 2026 season.

Josh Elander is entering his first season as Tennessee’s head coach after Tony Vitello left to manage the San Fransisco Giants last month. Elander was a part of Vitello’s staff from the time he arrived in Knoxville and served as the associate head coach the final three seasons.

The former TCU catch has made a number of key decisions in his first month on the job. He poached Florida associate head coach Chuck Jeroloman to become his top assistant and hired Keegan Knoll as the program’s new Director of Sports Performance after Quentin Eberhardt left for a position in the Giants organization.
