Tennessee shooting guard Bishop Boswell has missed three straight games during the Vols’ 5-0 start to the season. Dealing with a left hamstring injury, it’s uncertain when Boswell will return to the court as Tennessee’s schedule prepares to ramp up.

“No, we don’t,” Tennessee head coach Rick Barbes said on if there is a timeline for Boswell to return. “It went from his foot, which I think is better now. But moved into his leg, hamstring. Bishop is above and beyond doing what he is supposed to do. We’ve got to get him right. He has had some of that pain in his hamstring and you guys know how that injury — if you don’t get it right, it lingers and we don’t want that to happen.”

As Barnes noted, it’s been two different injuries that have sidelined Boswell. The sophomore shooting guard first suffered a minor foot injury in Tennessee’s win over Northern Kentucky which caused him to miss the North Florida game. He returned to practice after the North Florida game before suffering the hamstring injury that is currently sidelining him.

The nature of hamstring injuries are causing Tennessee to play things safe with the shooting guard’s status. During Tennessee’s Wednesday practice, Boswell did not team activities but did some individual shooting off to the side.

A defensive stopper, Boswell is averaging 5.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and one assist while starting in each of Tennessee’s first two games this season.

Ethan Burg started the first game that Boswell was sidelined before Louisiana Tech transfer Amaree Abram started each of the last two games. Abram came out in fire in Tennessee’s 89-60 win over Tennessee State Thursday night, hitting three triples in the game’s first three minutes.

After playing five buy games to begin the season, Tennessee’s schedule gets significantly more challenging beginning next week at the Players Era Festival. The Vols will play three games in Las Vegas with the first two coming against Rutgers and Houston.

Tennessee then begins the month of December with a road trip to Syracuse, a matchup with Illinois and Nashville and then a home game against Louisville. Both Illinois and Louisville currently rank in the nation’s top 15.
