Tennessee football’s game against Vanderbilt on Saturday is going to be one of the most important in the rivalry’s history. The Vols are looking to spoil the Commodores’ historic season and slam the door shut on any thought VU could make the playoffs.
Before the matchup, Tennessee is holding its Senior Day festivities, though. While basketball at UT has opted to move those celebrations to postgame, that’s not really an option for football. Instead, it’ll be just before kickoff.
Tennessee has Senior Day scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET. It will take place on the field with seniors running solo through the T before the entire team does right before kickoff.

Tennessee will have to turn around and refocus for the game against Vanderbilt. Vols head coach Josh Heupel commented on this challenge on Monday.
“It’s unique because there’s no other game that’s like that one,” Heupel said. “You know, it’s your last one inside that stadium, but two, it’s unique. After our warm-ups, you usually go in and you’ve got your routine. Your routine is stalled for a little bit. You’re introduced, you see your family. That part is definitely unique. The mental side of it, it’s different. When you walk away from it, you walk back into the locker room. And you gotta flip the switch and get back into your routine, your mindset, to go play and compete. It’s not difficult to do, but it is a unique day.”
