No. 19 Tennessee lost its season finale to No. 14 Vanderbilt by a score of 45-24 on Saturday night in Neyland Stadium. With the loss, the Vols officially wind things down at 8-4 before the bowl game next month.
The Vols and Commodores traded punches early in the game, but a brutal sequence leading into halftime ended up causing a landslide that saw Vanderbilt outscore Tennessee 31-3 in the final two-plus quarters of the game. The wheels fell off for Tennessee in the second half, and the Vols just couldn’t put much together on either side of the ball to score or slow down the Commodores’ red-hot offense.
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel spoke to the media after the game for a little less than seven minutes as he broke down his reactions to the game. Tennessee also had four players speak to the media, with Jeremiah Telander going by himself and a second group featuring Joey Aguilar, Edrees Farooq, and DeSean Bishop.
