Tennessee football has officially signed its highest-rated commit of the 2026 class. Quarterback Faizon Brandon has put pen to paper on Wednesday, the first day of the opening signing period.

Brandon is a five-star prospect, according to 247. He spent a good bit of the cycle as the No. 1 overall recruit in the class, but fell to No. 2 in the recruiting service’s most recent update. He is the No. 2 quarterback, behind Houston commit Keisean Henderson, and the top-ranked player out of North Carolina.

Brandon plays for Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. This is the same hometown as recent star Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker.

“Box-checking quarterback with the arm talent and dual-threat athleticism to light up scoreboards on Saturdays and then eventually Sundays,” 247 director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote about Brandon. “Looks the part with a budding frame that’s hovering right around 6-foot-3.5, 200 pounds and should only continue to get bigger as he will start college well before his 18th birthday. Uses a sturdy base and a smooth release to rip lasers to all different corners of the field.

“Ball at times will jump out of his hands as he hits his short and intermediate targets with conviction. Has spent the past two years coordinating a single-back, spread attack that’s heavy on the RPO looks. More than capable of moving the chains on designed runs with his power and acceleration. Those same legs allow him to shake his fair share of pressure and he has proven to be a rather accurate distributor on the move as he can throw with both touch and anticipation.”

Brandon is one of three five-star recruits that Tennessee has committed this cycle. Offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda has already signed, while the Vols are still waiting for the signature of wide receiver Tristen Keys.

For full signing day coverage, here’s everything you need to know. Josh Heupel will also speak with the media to give his thoughts on the class this afternoon.
