Tennessee football has inked 27 players in the 2026 class and is now turning its attention to the 2027 cycle. One of the targets to keep tabs on is Chase Johnson, one of the top cornerbacks in the country.

Johnson released his list of top 10 schools he’ll be focusing on going forward. This included the Vols along with Miami, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Kentucky, Florida State, Florida and Georgia, according to Chad Simmons.

Johnson is considered a four-star prospect and the No. 175 player in the country, according to 247. This slots him as the No. 20 cornerback and No. 19 player from the state of Georgia in the cycle. He plays for Emanuel County Institute in Swainsboro, Georgia.

Johnson took a pair of visits to Tennessee prior to this past season. This included for the annual Orange & White Game and a month later for the final day of May and the first day of June for the Big Orange BBQ.

The Vols currently hold four commitments in the 2027 cycle. This is headlined by in-state offensive lineman Princeton Uwaifo. He ranks as the No. 110 player in the country and holds four-star status, via 247. Three-star commitments in the boat so far include defensive lineman Kadin Fife, cornerback Kamauri Whitfield and linebacker JP Peace. The group ranks as the No. 13 class in the country on 247.

Josh Heupel just inked one of the best classes in the country for the 2026 cycle, as well. His signing class clocks in as the No. 5 group in the country on 247, including signings of a trio of five-star prospects. While the Vols lost the signing of four-star athlete Legend Bey on Tuesday, there are still plenty of dynamic options that have signed to fill his role.
