
Following the Lady Vols basketball team’s blowout loss to Louisville, Tennessee has fallen six spots in the updated AP Poll. The Lady Vols now clock in as the No. 23 team in the country, only ahead of Michigan State and Princeton in the rankings.
Tennessee’s position is good for eighth in the SEC. UT clocks in behind No. 2 Texas, No. 3 South Carolina, No. 5 LSU, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 11 Kentucky, No. 12 Vanderbilt and No. 15 Ole Miss. Alabama and Georgia are also in the receiving votes category, just outside of the top 25.
The poll is led by UConn, which the Lady Vols will play in the midst of their SEC schedule. Other out-of-conference opponents include No. 4 UCLA and No. 13 Louisville. NC State was a team receiving votes outside the rankings.

In their last time out, the Lady Vols played Louisville in Brooklyn tight for about two and a half quarters. Things unraveled in a hurry, though, leading to an 89-65 defeat. This dropped the team to 7-3 on the season.
“We had a terrible display of basketball today,” Kim Caldwell said after the game. “We did a scout, it didn’t look like we did a scout. We didn’t rebound, we got beat to every 50-50 ball. They were leaps and bounds tougher than us today.”
The Lady Vols have one final non-conference game before SEC play arrives. Tennessee will host Southern Indiana on Monday, Dec. 22,f in Knoxville at 6:30 p.m. ET. The game will air SECN+.
Then, SEC play begins on Jan. 1 at 2 p.m. ET in Knoxville against Florida. That matchup will air on SECN+, as well.
