Tennessee football is in the top schools list for a safety recruiting target that is soon to come off the board. Three-star Charles ‘Chuck’ Roberts named the Vols, Florida, Miami, Missouri, North Carolina, Oregon and Washington as his top schools for his pending commitment. He will make his decision on Dec. 29, according to Rivals.

Roberts is considered the No. 416 recruit in the country by 247 Composite. He is the No. 37 safety and No. 39 recruit out of Florida. He plays for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Prior to playing for IMG, he started as a freshman for the varsity team at Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany.

Tennessee got in the mix late for Roberts, but has made enough of an impression to make his top schools list. The Vols offered him on Nov. 26, 2025. While the defensive coordinator and safeties coach at the time was Tim Banks, his offer still stands.

The Vols currently hold four commitments in the 2027 cycle. This is headlined by in-state offensive lineman Princeton Uwaifo. He ranks as the No. 110 player in the country and holds four-star status, via 247.

Three-star commitments in the boat so far include defensive lineman Kadin Fife, cornerback Kamauri Whitfield and linebacker JP Peace. The group ranks as the No. 13 class in the country on 247.

Josh Heupel just inked one of the best classes in the country for the 2026 cycle, as well. His signing class clocks in as the No. 5 group in the country on 247, including signings of a trio of five-star prospects. While the Vols lost the signing of four-star athlete Legend Bey last week, there are still plenty of dynamic options that have signed to fill his role.
