After just one season with Tennessee football, edge rusher Jayden Loftin is entering the transfer portal. He will receive a redshirt for his true freshman season and will have four remaining years of eligibility.

“Forever grateful for the opportunity to be apart of this program,” Loftin wrote. “I will entering my name into the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility.”

Loftin was a four-star prospect out of high school, hailing from Somerville, New Jersey. He was considered the No. 33 edge rusher and No. 7 player from New Jersey in the class by 247. He suffered an injury in his final year of high school that lingered into the start of his college career, as well.

This is now the 21st player from Tennessee to enter the transfer portal this cycle. Other edge rushers on the way out include Caleb Herring, Kellen Lindstrom and Emmanuel Okoye.

He is also the first player from Tennessee’s 2025 signing class to enter the transfer portal. The Vols inked 25 total players that year, headlined by five-star David Sanders Jr. Other notable names include Jadon Perlotte, Ty Redmond, Radarious Jackson, Travis Smith Jr., Jack Van Dorselaer, Dasaahn Brame, Isaiah Campbell and Ethan Utley.

Both of Tennessee’s edge rusher positions are extremely thin going into next season, though. At LEO, the Vols just have Jordan Ross returning from players who got consistent run last year. At defensive end, it’ll be Tyree Weathersby and Mariyon Dye.

While Tennessee is yet to land any commitments, it’s projected to be attempting to reel in big fish on both sides of the ball and perhaps the biggest number of transfers yet under Josh Heupel.
