Tennessee Football and head coach Josh Heupel appear set to host an ACC linebacker in the near future. According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Friday, Tennessee is one of two SEC programs that are lined up to host North Carolina linebacker Khmori House. The other team in the running is Arkansas.

As a three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, House originally committed to Washington. He played with the Huskies for one season, racking up 33 total tackles, four pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one interception. House then packed up his talents and played for Bill Belichick’s Tar Heels during the 2025 season. This past year, he tallied 78 total tackles, one pass deflection, one sack, one forced fumble, and one interception.

Now residing in the transfer portal, 247Sports has bumped the six-foot linebacker up to a four-star portal prospect. 247 has House as the No. 67 overall player and the No. 4 linebacker in the portal, while On3 Sports has him as the No. 106 player and the No. 5 linebacker in the portal.

According to a report from Volquest’s Brent Hubbs on Friday, Tennessee linebackers coach William Inge is set to be retained as part of Jim Knowles’ defensive staff in Knoxville. Inge has served as the Vols’ linebackers coach for the past two seasons and was UT’s interim defensive coordinator for the Music City Bowl last week in the wake of Tim Banks’ firing. He’ll clearly be a key figure when Tennessee gets House on campus.

The other big news from Tennessee’s room is that star linebacker Arion Carter is heading to the NFL Draft. He did not play in the Music City Bowl, but was in attendance to support his teammates, as he prepares for the upcoming draft. Tennessee appears set to return rising senior Jeremiah Telander, rising redshirt-sophomore Edwin Spillman, rising sophomore Jadon Perlotte, and rising sophomore Jaedon Harmon. It’s a solid group, but adding a player with the experience and talent that House possesses could be a big win for the Vols’ linebacker room. Tennessee is also bringing in two highly-touted true freshman players through the 2026 signing class with four-star TJ White and four-star Brayden Rouse.

House played in all 12 of the Tar Heels’ games this past season. His most productive game came against Stanford, when he racked up 13 total tackles and one interception. House also earned nine tackles against Wake Forest and seven tackles against TCU, Richmond, Clemson, and Virginia.
