A former Tennessee receiver is back in the SEC. Chas Nimrod signed with Alex Golesh and Auburn Wednesday night after spending one season at South Florida.

Nimrod played in just six games for the Bulls last season because of injury, but he was productive when on the field. He caught 23 passes for 466 yards and three touchdowns including a massive game against Miami when he totaled four receptions for 128 yards.

Nimrod signed with Auburn shortly after learning who his quarterback will be. Byrum Brown is also falling Golesh from South Florida to Auburn this offseason. Brown led the FBS in total yards last season, throwing for 3,158 yards and rushing for 1,008 yards.

The Arkansas native played the first three years of his college career at Tennessee. Nimrod redshirted as a freshman in 2022 before playing as a backup during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He caught 19 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown during his redshirt freshman season.

Nimrod dealt with drops while earning a bigger role in an underwhelming receiver room in 2024. He caught 10 passes for 121 yards over the course of the season. His best game of the year came against Kentucky when he caught three passes for 45 yards.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound receiver will return to Neyland Stadium this season when the Vols host Auburn on Oct. 3 in a crucial SEC matchup. It’s the Vols’ second SEC game of the 2026 season and comes a week after Tennessee hosts Texas in Knoxville.

There’s a number of former Tennessee personnel at Auburn with Golesh including Tim Banks and Parker Ball.

Auburn has home matchups against Florida and Vanderbilt the two weeks prior to the matchup at Tennessee. They have an open date the following week before traveling to Georgia out of the open date.
