Wide receiver may not be the top position of need for Tennessee football, but the Vols are seemingly willing to add one through the transfer portal. After being tied to LSU speedy receiver Jelani Watkins earlier this week, GoVols247 has reported that Oklahoma State veteran pass catcher Gavin Freeman will also take a visit to UT.
Freeman, a slot receiver for the Cowboys, will have one year of eligibility remaining. At just 5-foot-8, he caught 53 passes for 481 yards and four touchdowns. He started every game for Oklahoma State and led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns.
Freeman also served as a kick and punt returner for Oklahoma State. While it would be tough for him to find too much playtime in the slot with Braylon Staley returning, this is an area he could certainly make an impact in.
Freeman started his career at Oklahoma. He played two seasons there before playing the past two with Oklahoma State. He is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he played for Heritage Hall in high school.

So far, Tennessee has been tied to plenty of transfers, but has landed the commitment of just three. The lone offensive addition is LSU offensive tackle Ory Williams. He just finished his redshirt-freshman year and will have three years of eligibility left.
On defense, the Vols have made the move for two pieces in the secondary. First, safety Qua Moss joined. He may project more so in the STAR role for Tennessee, though. The other is Auburn starting cornerback Kayin Lee.
So far, just Freeman and LSU’s Watkins are the wide receivers the Vols have been tied to. With the return of starters Staley and Mike Matthews and multiple young pieces, Tennessee has multiple options.
