WATCH: Tennessee HC Rick Barnes, UT Players React to Double Overtime Win Over Texas A&M

No. 24 Tennessee picked up an 87-82 win over Texas A&M on Tuesday night in Knoxville, moving to 12-5 on the season and 2-2 in SEC play. The Aggies jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first half and carried a 34-30 advantage into the halftime break, but the Vols fought back in the second half and took their first lead of the game at the 5:29 mark. Tennessee and Texas A&M ended regulation tied at 71 and were knotted at 75 after the first overtime, but the Vols outscored the Aggies by five in the final five minutes to secure the win.

Tennessee had five double-digit scorers on the night, led by Nate Ament’s 23 points. It tied a career-high for the freshman forward. The Vols also had a pair of double-double outputs in the game, with Felix Okpara scoring 10 and rebounding 12, and Bishop Boswell scoring 13 and rebounding 11. Texas A&M ended the game with seven more made threes than Tennessee, but needed 19 more shots from deep in order to do so. A big factor in Tennessee’s win was the Vols’ 60 to 35 rebounding advantage, with 24 offensive rebounds compared to Texas A&M’s 10.

After the game, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan spoke to the media to discuss their reactions to the game. Tennessee also had forward Nate Ament, guard Bishop Boswell, and guard Troy Henderson meet with the media as well.
