Former Tennessee and Arizona safety Jack Luttrell will be returning to the SEC. According to a report from On3 on Sunday, Luttrell is joining Alex Golesh’s roster at Auburn. Luttrell will be reuniting with Tim Banks, his former defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Tennessee, with the Tigers.

Luttrell originally committed to Tennessee out of Colquitt County High School as a three-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle. He was committed to Tennessee for more than 16 months before enrolling at UT, and took trips to Knoxville for multiple visits and even a 7-on-7 tournament that was held in Farragut.

Luttrell played in three games for the Volunteers during the 2023 season while earning a redshirt. He did not record any stats during that season.

After entering the portal in December 2023, Luttrell wound up at Arizona. He played in 12 games for the Wildcats during the 2024 season, racking up 39 total tackles, three interceptions, and one forced fumble. He also returned a pair of punts.

Luttrell appeared in just three games during the 2025 season with injuries, tallying three total tackles and one interception against Hawai’i in the season opener.

With his decision to return to the SEC by way of Auburn, Luttrell will reunite with Banks when he arrives on campus. Tim Banks was fired as Tennessee’s defensive coordinator following the 2025 season, but quickly landed a job with Alex Golesh’s Tigers. Banks will serve as Auburn’s co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach and held the same positions during Luttrell’s 2023 season on Rocky Top.

Luttrell will also now return to Rocky Top this fall. Tennessee will host Golesh’s Auburn Tigers in Neyland Stadium on Oct. 3 in SEC play.

The Georgia native is one of many former Tennessee-associated figures who are currently with Golesh’s program. Golesh himself is a former Tennessee offensive coordinator and has brought in former DC Tim Banks, former UT WR coach Kodi Burns, former UT OC Larry Scott, and former UT offensive lineman Parker Ball as an assistant line coach. Former Tennessee wide receiver Chas Nimrod also transferred to Auburn this offseason.
