The transfer portal has been in swing for quite some time this cycle, and teams all over the country have been grabbing players out of the vortex to rebuild their roster and/or fill holes where they see is needed. The SEC, obviously, is no exception to that. According to 247Sports, the SEC has seen more than 370 players added during the cycle, with some players coming in from other conferences and some swapping teams within the conference.
247Sports has assigned rankings for the players in the portal, just like it does with the high school prospects. The rankings don’t always tell the full story, though. Tennessee picked up Colorado cornerback Colton Hood as a three-star transfer last season, and he might wind up being a first-round pick in the NFL Draft this spring. But the rankings do help decipher which teams have put a lot of stock into getting former impact players from other programs.
Arkansas has picked up 40 portal players this cycle, which is the most in the SEC. Georgia, meanwhile, has picked up the least in the conference with just nine. Each team is different in how it is shaping up its roster heading into the season.
Tennessee has picked up 18 total players from the portal, which ranks 10th in the SEC. The Vols’ two highest-rated incoming players include five-star EDGE Chaz Coleman and four-star DT Xavier Gilliam, who both joined from Penn State.
