Tennessee football has landed some of the top available quarterbacks under Josh Heupel. This has included five-star Nico Iamaleava, then four-star Jake Merklinger, then four-star George MacIntyre and now five-star Faizon Brandon.

For the 2027 class, the Vols are still on the hunt to land their signal caller. On Friday, Josh Heupel made a short trip down to Baylor School and left extending an offer to the high school’s quarterback, Keegan Croucher.

Croucher is considered a four-star recruit by 247 Composite. He is No. 218 player in the class, No. 16 quarterback and No. 9 player from the state of Tennessee. He is also teammates of big-time running back target David Gabriel Georges, whom Tennessee is making a push for.

“Had a very productive freshman year, throwing for 2,934 yards and 31 touchdowns with just three interceptions,” 247 analyst Greg Biggins wrote in September of 2024. “He’s a big strong kid with a projectable 6-4, 190 pound frame that we can easily see carrying another 20-25 pounds or so when he’s playing in college. Has a live arm and easy velocity, can get the ball down the field with ease without a big windup. Strong mechanically with a tight release and can throw from different arm angles. Shows good mobility in the pocket, can feel pressure and either climb the pocket or escape outside and make plays off-script. Has a really nice all around game and looks like one of the better pure throwers in the ’27 class. Projects as a high Power 4 prospect who should be recruited at the national level.”

The biggest hurdle in landing Croucher is his current commitment to another SEC program. In October, he committed to Ole Miss. However, that was still when Lane Kiffin ran the Rebels’ program.

Since Kiffin’s move to LSU, Croucher has not backed off of his pledge. However, the shake-up at the top could lead to an opening that Tennessee or another school could use to insert itself in the race.
