Former Tennessee wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. has punched his ticket to Super Bowl LX after the Seattle Seahawks’ NFC Championship victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. Jones serves as a backup running back on the Seahawks’ roster but was inactive for Sunday’s game. He has primarily been on the practice squad this season.
While Jones did not play on Sunday, he did tally six rushes for 10 yards in Seattle’s blowout divisional round win over the San Francisco 49ers last weekend. With Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet out for the playoffs with an ACL injury, he could potentially get elevated to active status for the Super Bowl.
The former Tennessee receiver began his season with the New Orleans Saints. He signed with the team in March 2025 with the intent that he would switch from receiver to running back. Jones went back and forth between the practice squad and the active roster during the season, but was eventually waived in late October. After just a few days, Seattle decided to pick him up. Jones has primarily been on the Seahawks’ practice squad, but he has played a few times since joining the organization. Aside from the previously mentioned playoff game against the Niners, he also recorded 32 yards on four carries against the Falcons on Dec. 7.
