This off-season, former Tennessee football cornerback Alontae Taylor will be one of the most sought-after free agents in the NFL. After proving he is one of the better cornerbacks in the league, he will have a number of suitors that would love to bring him in to bolster their defense.
CBS logged a prediction for where Taylor, who is currently with the New Orleans Saints, will sign this off-season. The publication has him headed to the Los Angeles Rams.
“Taylor had his best year as a pro in 2025, and the Rams have a clear need at cornerback,” CBS’s Zachary Pereles wrote. “Whether they address it in free agency or the draft remains TBD, but in this projection, they nab one of the top free agents available.”

If Taylor did pick the Rams, he’d be teaming up with a pair of former UT teammates. Taylor, Byron Young and Jaylen McCollough were all members of Josh Heupel’s first Tennessee defense in 2021. Now, all three are shining in the NFL and could be teaming up in Los Angeles.
Other teams that CBS noted could be in the mix to land Taylor include a return to the Saints, the Miami Dolphins and the Tennessee Titans.
In 17 games this past season with the Saints, his fourth in the NFL, Taylor recorded 83 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions. He posted a strong PFF grade of 63.8 on the year, as well.
Taylor played at Tennessee from 2018-21 under both Jeremy Pruitt and Heupel. Taylor finished his college tenure with 162 tackles, four interceptions, a pick-six and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. He used this strong career to earn a second-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. He went 49th overall to New Orleans that year.
