Tennessee survived a road clash with Georgia and came out with an 86-85 victory on Wednesday night in Athens. The Vols now have back-to-back road wins with the victory over Alabama last Saturday and the win over Georgia on Wednesday.
Tennessee scored 28 points in the first half, 46 points in the second half, and 12 points in overtime to find the one-point win. Georgia, meanwhile, scored 34 points in the first frame, 40 points in the second frame, and 11 points in overtime.
The Bulldogs had a chance at tying the game in the final possession of overtime while down by three points. Georgia guard Smurf Millender ended up scoring a layup in the final second of the game, though, when the Bulldogs needed three points. Tennessee was able to inbound the ball up by one to kill the final 0.6 seconds off the clock and come out with the victory.
Tennessee has four players score double-digit points on Wednesday with Ja’Kobi Gillespie leading the way at 21 points. Nate Ament put up 19 points, JP Estella had 17 points, and Bishop Boswell had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Vols will return to Knoxville and put their two-game winning streak on the line in a Saturday night showdown against Auburn.
