Tennessee football held the commitment of an elite athlete from Utah, Salesi Moa, for a bit of the 2026 cycle before he flipped to and signed with Utah and then transferred to Michigan. Now, in the 2027 class, Josh Heupel and the Vols have identified another athlete from the Beehive State.
On Wednesday, according to Hayes Fawcett, Bode Sparrow released his top 10 schools that he’s currently focusing on. This included Tennessee, along with Utah, BYU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Arizona State and Michigan.
Sparrow is the No. 67 player in the class, according to 247 Composite. He is the No. 3 athlete in the cycle and the top-ranked player from Utah, as well. He plays for Davis High School and is from Kaysville, Utah.

Tennessee extended its offer to Sparrow on April 30, 2025. The offer came from Kelsey Pope, the Vols’ wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. This may indicate that UT would like to use him as a receiver, though he is plenty capable of playing safety, as well.
Tennessee already holds four commitments in the 2027 class. This includes four-star tackle Princeton Uwaifo, four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, three-star linebacker JP Peace and three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield. The class is still young, though, and plenty more commitments are expected to trickle in over the next year.
