For years now, Tennessee Baseball fans have had to memorize players simply by the number that they wear on the field. That’s not a difficult task for a fanbase that’s as well-versed and knowledgeable as UT fans, but life just got a lot easier in that memorization process.

Ahead of the season-opening game on Friday afternoon, Tennessee revealed some new tweaks to its orange and white uniform combinations on Wednesday. The biggest change of all is the long-awaited addition of name plates on the back of the uniforms.

The names are in a horizontal block format, rather than curved around the numbers. The white uniforms have blocky orange lettering, while the orange uniforms have the same text format in white. The names sit right underneath an American flag.

Here’s a look at the old uniforms vs the new uniforms that were revealed on Wednesday:

In addition to the major change of the name plates, there are also a few other uniform tweaks to note. Tennessee’s white uniform is the same one that it debuted last season, but the orange one does have some changes. It is a thinner material and is just a regular shirt without buttons. The collar is also slightly different, but still has the Vols script logo across the chest.
