Prediction

Under Chris Jans, Mississippi State has consistently been a strong defensive team and a bit shaky offensively. The defense took a small step back last season but an improved offense mitigated the decline. This year, the defense has taken another step back while the offense has fallen off a cliff.

Josh Hubbard is, again, the guy for Mississippi State while Jayden Epps is an inconsistent second option. If Tennessee slows down Hubbard then it’s hard to imagine it being a good night for the Bulldogs offense.

One of Mississippi State’s few strengths has been on the defensive glass. Tennessee will certainly test that, but the Vols may need to find a better first shot offense. We’ll see if they can get out in transition and score easy baskets there. The Bulldogs have been vulnerable there.
