Former Tennessee football captain and starter and Knoxville product Nick Reveiz has landed the job as the defensive coordinator at Western Carolina, the school announced on Thursday afternoon.

Reveiz played for the Vols from 2006-10. Out of Farragut, he joined the program as a walk-on before later earning a scholarship.

Over the course of 30 games in his career, Reveiz posted 168 tackles, 81 of which were solo, with 10.5 tackles for loss. By his final two seasons, he was an every-game starter on defense. He was elected a captain by his teammates during those last two years, as well. He was also named to the Academic All-SEC team in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Reveiz earned a spot on the preseason roster for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011, playing at linebacker and fullback in all four preseason games. He later earned the NFL’s Bill Walsh Minority Defensive Intern position with the Los Angeles Rams in the summer of 2018.

After his playing career, Reveiz began as a graduate assistant at local Carson-Newman, where he helped with linebackers in 2013. After that, he transitioned to coaching running backs with the program until 2015, before returning to linebackers in 2016.

In 2017, Reveiz moved on to Albany State, where he coached linebackers. From 2018-2021, he served as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the program, as well.

In 2022, Reveiz got his first defensive coordinator gig at VMI. The following year, he served in the role at Charleston Southern. He coached there until this past year.

With CSU, Reveiz led a vaunted defense. The group gave up just 24 points per game, ranking 34th at the FCS level in 2025. His defense gave up 17 or fewer points just five times on the year, as well. His group also forced 24 fumbles and ranked eighth in fourth-down defense.
