With Joey Aguilar being denied his request for a preliminary injunction, Tennessee football is set to host another quarterback battle. This time, it’ll be between redshirt-freshman George MacIntyre, true freshman Faizon Brandon and Colorado transfer Ryan Staub.
Each of the trio has unique advantages they’ll bring to the battle, but the highest-rated recruit of the group is Brandon. He was considered a five-star prospect by 247, ranking as the No. 3 overall recruit and quarterback in the 2026 cycle.
Before Brandon immerses himself in the upcoming quarterback battle that will start in the spring, you can watch his high school highlights to get a bit of a look into what he brings to the table. Below are videos of his tape from his senior year state title game and junior and sophomore year highlights.
It’s worth noting that Brandon dealt with an injury in 2025, forcing him to miss a bit of the season.

“Recruiting process started a long time ago,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said on Brandon during ‘The Mike Keith Show’. “Saw the video of him as a young starter, got him on campus, having a camp day with him. His ability to throw the ball with power, with accuracy. His ability to have touch on the football when it’s time to do that. He’s got the athleticism to extend and make plays as a scrambler. He’s a scramble-to-throw guy first, but man, when he does tuck it, he’s got the ability to be a weapon and pick up massive yards with his feet.
“His ability in the run game to control edges, control pressures a huge part of it. He’s quick-minded. Processes things extremely quickly and then you take into account who he is, his maturity, how he interacts and engages with his teammates. That’s really important in that position that you’re fitting in culturally inside of our locker room and helping us grow into what we need to be. So couldn’t be more excited to have him and his family a part of Rocky Top.”
Brandon was a key piece in an elite signing class for Tennessee. He is one of three five-stars on 247, joining wide receiver TK Keys and offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda. The group ranked No. 4 in the country on 247.
