Tennessee basketball was looking to extend its win-streak against Alabama to six games, and it looked like it would for 39 minutes. However, with 24 seconds to play, the Tide hit what proved to be the deciding shot, winning 71-69 in Knoxville.
After the game, Vols head coach Rick Barnes met with the media to field questions. He was asked about what went wrong late, Nate Ament’s injury status, the battle on the glass and more.
Along with Barnes, Tennessee was represented by Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Amari Evans. Gillespie finished with a game-high 26 points on 9-for-23 shooting from the field and 3-for-10 from range. He also contributed seven assists, five rebounds and eight steals. Evans posted seven points with eight rebounds and one assist.
Alabama also sent head coach Nate Oats to speak. He spoke about snapping the losing streak to UT, who stepped up for him, the rebounding differential and more.
