More From RTI: Everything Lady Vols Basketball HC Kim Caldwell Said After Loss to Vanderbilt, Sixth-Straight Defeat

The Lady Vols have earned the 6-seed in the SEC tournament. At 8-8 in conference play, UT won the tiebreaker over Ole Miss, Georgia and Kentucky. It was decided via win percentage among games against teams in the tie. Tennessee went 2-1 against those teams, earning the top spot.

This means the Lady Vols will earn a single bye in the tournament as a top-eight team. Last season, Tennessee was forced to play on the opening day, but won to advance to the second round. It was there that it lost to Vanderbilt.

This year, the Lady Vols will play the winner of 11-seed Alabama and 14-seed Missouri. Tennessee beat the Tide on the road and hammered the Tigers at home earlier this season.

However, now, UT enters the SEC Tournament on a six-game losing skid. Though the Lady Vols are projected to be comfortably in the NCAA Tournament field, a win in the tournament could go a long way for seeding.

“We need a win. You need a win,” Tennessee head coach Kim Caldwell said after the regular season finale loss to Vanderbilt. “You need a win in the SEC tournament, get some momentum, and take it game by game there.”

The Lady Vols’ first game of the SEC Tournament is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET and will air on the SEC Network. The winner of that matchup will play 3-seed Texas on Friday, also at 8:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
