College football is starting to begin spring practice, with some teams already underway. As far as Tennessee football, it will be kicking things off this upcoming Monday ahead of year six under Josh Heupel.

While there’s still a good bit of time until the season begins, Vegas has already gone through and set over/under win totals for teams across the SEC. While questions at quarterback and other areas leave the Vols outside the conversation of College Football Playoff favorites, the line for regular-season wins next year is a bit lower than you might be expecting.

On FanDuel, you can get Tennessee winning over 6.5 games at -144 and under 6.5 games at +118.

Here is the full list of SEC win totals on FanDuel:

  • Georgia – 9.5
  • Texas – 9.5
  • Alabama – 8.5
  • LSU – 8.5
  • Texas A&M – 8.5
  • Oklahoma – 7.5
  • Ole Miss – 7.5
  • Auburn – 6.5
  • Florida – 6.5
  • Missouri – 6.5
  • Tennessee – 6.5
  • Vanderbilt – 6.5
  • Kentucky – 5.5
  • South Carolina – 5.5

The scheduling this season certainly plays a factor into lower projected win totals across the conference. The SEC is switching to a nine-game conference schedule, which means one out-of-conference game, which is typically a buy-game, is off the board.

For the Vols, it’ll play the nine-game set, along with Georgia Tech on the road and Furman and Kennesaw State at home.

Tennessee’s biggest glaring question is at quarterback. The Vols will host a battle between a trio of unproven options, featuring redshirt-freshman George MacIntyre, freshman Faizon Brandon and Colorado transfer Ryan Staub.

The other question is on defense. Heupel fired defensive coordinator Tim Banks after a down year and replaced him with well-respected Jim Knowles, who overhauled the side of the ball through the transfer portal. With staff and personnel changes, it can be tough to project the degree of success they will have.
