Tennessee had its quarterback room speak to the media on Tuesday morning after the Vols’ second practice of the spring camp slate. The Vols are currently holding a quarterback battle to determine the starter when Tennessee takes the field for the season opener this fall, with the participants being redshirt freshman George MacIntyre, true freshman Faizon Brandon, and Colorado transfer Ryan Staub.

With the amount of time between now and the start of the season, though, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel doesn’t plan on naming a starter before the Orange & White Game in April. He’ll let things naturally unfold as the three competitors get their shot on the field during the spring and the fall.

“Don’t expect a guy to be named here during the course of spring ball,” Heupel said on Monday. “I think it’s important that all the guys in that room learn and grow throughout the course of spring, also have a chance to go back in your summer months, digest it, reinstall and come back a much better player and compete and earn it in front of their teammates as you get into training camp.”

Tennessee had all three quarterbacks speak to the media on Tuesday afternoon after practice. All three talked about the respective paths to get here, their assessments of the quarterback room as a whole, and what they’re working on over the next few weeks.
