Tennessee Football looks to be hosting one of the top prospects in the 2027 recruiting class in the immediate future. According to a report from Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong on Thursday, Tennessee will host five-star EDGE rusher Anthony Sweeney this weekend.
Sweeney’s visit to Tennessee comes during UT spring training camp practices. The Vols are set to hit the practice field this Saturday on campus.
Rivals’ Industry Rankings have Sweeney tagged as the No. 20 player in the 2027 cycle, the No. 3 EDGE rusher in the country, and the top-ranked player from the state of Maryland. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound prospect currently plays for Good Counsel High School in Olney, MD.
Sweeney’s blue-chip ranking is highlighted by his offer list. With more than 40 total scholarship offers, Sweeney’s list is lined up with powerhouse programs such as Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, LSU, South Carolina, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, and Texas Tech.
247Sports also shows that Sweeney has upcoming visits to Maryland, Alabama, and Texas A&M over the next few months.

Tennessee will head into the 2026 season with star EDGE rusher Chaz Coleman, who came to Tennessee through the transfer portal this offseason. Coleman followed Jim Knowles from Penn State, who was his defensive coordinator during his freshman season with the Nittany Lions. Coleman only has one season of experience, and he spent some time on the sidelines with injury, but showed plenty of bright flashes on his tape. He projects to be a key piece of Tennessee’s pass rush in 2026.
Tennessee also bolstered its EDGE position with Jordan Norman, a transfer player from Tulane. Norman gives Tennessee additional depth at the position after the departures of Jordan Ross and Caleb Herring to the portal this past offseason.
