Tennessee football has landed the biggest commitment yet for its 2027 class. On Saturday, in-state and priority wide receiver Kesean Bowman pulled the trigger and announced his commitment to the Vols.

Bowman is from Brentwood, Tennessee, where he stars for Brentwood Academy. Tennessee got in on him early and made it known he was a top target on UT’s board. However, last July, Bowman committed to Oregon. After a visit to Knoxville, he backed off the pledge in September, reopening his recruitment.

Bowman most recently narrowed down his list to the Vols, Ohio State, Alabama, Miami and Vanderbilt. Ultimately, Tennessee won out in the end to keep one of the Volunteer State’s finest athletes at home.

Bowman ranks as a four-star recruit across the board on recruiting services. On 247 Composite, he clocks in as the No. 41 recruit in the nation, No. 7 receiver and No. 2 player out of the state. The only player ranked above him from Tennessee is Baylor School running back David Gabriel Georges, whom the Vols are also recruiting hard.

Tennessee is off to an extremely strong start in the 2027 cycle. So far, UT has landed six commitments in the class, including three four-stars. Bowman leads the way as a top-50 prospect, with offensive lineman Princeton Uwaifo just outside the top-100 on 247. Defensive lineman Kadin Fife is also in the boat, but committed to the previous defensive staff.

Three-stars quarterback Derrick Baker, legacy linebacker JP Peace and in-state athlete Jaden Butler are also committed. More commitments are expected to roll in throughout the offseason as the class heats up, as well.
