Tennessee basketball’s season ended just 24 hours ago but the Vols are quickly getting back to work building its roster for next season.
Belmont transfer Tyler Lundblade is beginning a multi-day visit with Tennessee on Monday, multiple sources told RTI. Lundblade will depart Knoxville on Wednesday. A large chunk of Tennessee basketball’s coaching staff picked Lundblade and his family up at the airport Monday.
Lundblade was the MVC Player of the Year for the Bruins a season ago, averaging 15.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
The 6-foot-5 wing is one of the best shooters in the country, making 41% of his three-point attempts on his way to 115 total made three-pointers. The year before, Lundblade made 104 three-pointers while shooting 48.1% from three-point range.
The transfer portal does not officially open until next Tuesday, April 7. But as a grad transfer, Lundblade does not have to officially enter the portal before moving schools.

Lundblade has one of the best stories of any player in college basketball. He walked on at SMU and earned a scholarship before the Mustangs fired Tim Jankovich. Lundblade then walked on at TCU before earning a scholarship, however, the Horned Frogs recruited over him and took the scholarship away.
The Dallas native then transferred to Belmont as a walk-on before earning a scholarship. He broke onto the scene during the 2024-25 season, stayed at Belmont for the 2025-26 season and then decided to transfer after earning MVC Player of the Year honors.
247sports ranks Lundblade as a four-star and as the No. 13 overall player in the transfer portal at this time. EvanMiya ranks Lundblade as a three-star and the No. 67 overall player in the portal.
With the season so close in the rearview, Tennessee basketball’s roster situation for next season is not yet clear. The Vols definitively lose seniors Ja’Kobi Gillespie, Felix Okpara, Amaree Abram and Grant Hurst to graduation and signed three players in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
As things currently stand, Tennessee has one scholarship to work with. However, Nate Ament could very well declare for the NBA Draft and the Vols will likely lose additional players to the transfer portal.
