Tennessee shooting guard Bishop Boswell is entering the transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton first reported and a source confirmed to RTI. Boswell spent two years at Tennessee and started 33 games on the Vols’ run to the Elite Eight during the 2024-25 season.
Boswell averaged just 6.2 points over the course of the season but showed growth on that end of the court, shooting 42.7% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range. The 6-foot-3 guard was a due it all guard for Tennessee, averaging 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
The Charlotte native was slightly better in SEC play, averaging seven points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Boswell played well in the NCAA Tournament. He totaled 13 points, nine assists and three rebounds in the Round of 32 win over Virginia and four points, eight assists and four rebounds in the Sweet 16 win over Iowa State.
More From RTI: Tennessee Basketball Starting Forward Entering Transfer Portal
Boswell’s biggest strength was its ability to do multiple things. He is a good defender and his improvement handling the basketball over the course of the season was big for Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament.
But with Tennessee looking to add more shooting to its roster next season, it made Boswell’s role less certain. While he shot a strong 38% from three-point range, Boswell made just 30 from three-point attempts over the course of the season.
NC State could be a likely landing spot for Boswell. New Wolfpack head coach Justin Gainey was Boswell’s lead recruiter to Tennessee. Former Tennessee Assistant Director of Player Development Riley Collins was crucial to Boswell’s development at Tennessee and is following Gainey to NC State as an assistant coach.
Boswell is the fourth Tennessee player to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining Cade Phillips, Clarence Massamba and JP Estrella.
