The 2025-2026 men’s college basketball season wraps up on Monday night with the National Championship between 1-seed Michigan and 2-seed UConn, which means that the 15-day transfer portal window will officially open up on Tuesday morning. The portal will open on April 7, 2026, and close on April 21, 2026.
While the portal hasn’t officially opened on the day of the National Championship game, it hasn’t stopped two Tennessee players from declaring their intentions to enter the portal when it does. Tennessee forward Cade Phillips‘ intentions were revealed last Friday, while Tennessee freshman guard Clarence Massamba‘s news came out on Monday morning.
While there are still many unknowns about which players will return or leave the Vols’ program, we do know about one player that Tennessee is adding to the roster. Tennessee officially announced the signing of former Belmont sharpshooter Tyler Lundblade last Thursday. Lundblade is the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and will join the Volunteers as a sixth-year guard for his final season. Lundblade is able to sign with Tennessee before the portal window because he is a graduate transfer.
The other important note about Tennessee’s potential returners and departures is star freshman wing Nate Ament, who has the chance to be a lottery selection in this year’s NBA Draft. Several recent NBA mock drafts have had Ament tagged as a projected Top 10 pick, though he has not officially declared for the draft at the time of this publication.
