Lady Vols basketball has made the hire to replace the fired Roman Tubner from Kim Caldwell’s staff. On Tuesday, the university announced Isoken Uzamere has been picked up to join the staff as an assistant.

Uzamere spent the previous four years of her career at Georgia under Katie Abrahamson-Henderson. However, Abrahamson-Henderson stepped away from the UGA program after the conclusion of this past season, putting Uzamere on the market of available coaches.

“We are thrilled to welcome Isoken Uzamere to our staff,” Caldwell said. “She is highly-regarded in our profession and has consistently demonstrated the skill set and personal characteristics to be a valued contributor in her previous stops. We are very happy to have her join our program.”

Prior to her time at Georgia, Uzamere was tied to the hip of Abrahamson-Henderson. She worked alongside the head coach for 14 years at both UCF and Albany.

Uzamere’s primary role with the Bulldogs was working with post players. She also played a role in scouting opponents and recruiting. Her recruiting prowess will now be tested with an entire roster needing to be filled. Currently, just incoming freshman Gabby Minus is signed up to play.

This has been the result of eight players with the potential to return entering the transfer portal. Five-star signee Oliviyah Edwards was also released from her signing on Tuesday.

This is the second change to the coaching staff at Tennessee, as well. Gabe Lazo resigned from his position, took a job at LSU and was then hired as head coach at UCF. He was promptly replaced by former Florida State associate head coach Bill Ferrara. Tubner was fired shortly after, with Uzamere added as the direct replacement.

Other coaches on Caldwell’s staff are Jenna Burdette, Angel Rizor and Lexier Barrier.
