Lady Vols basketball has landed another commitment through the transfer portal. On Saturday, former Stanford forward Harper Peterson announced that she’ll be joining Tennessee, she announced on her Instagram.
Peterson just completed her sophomore season with the Cardinal and will have two years of eligibility remaining. This is her second program, having spent both her first two seasons at Stanford.
This past year, the 6-foot-3 forward appeared in 10 games with no starts. She posted averages of 1.1 points on 33.3% shooting from the field and 37.5% from three. On the year, 13 of her 19 attempts from the field were from beyond the arc.
Peterson also logged 0.7 rebounds, 0.1 assists, 0.2 blocks and 0.1 steals per game in 3.9 minutes per outing. She did not play against Tennessee in the Lady Vols’ narrow road win this past season.

As a freshman at Stanford, Peterson played in nine games for 3.4 minutes per appearance. She averaged 0.7 points on 28.6% shooting from the field and 40% from three. That year, five of her seven attempts were from range and both her made baskets were threes.
Peterson also recorded averages of 0.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.1 steals and 0.1 blocks per game that season.
This now makes Peterson the third player to commit to Tennessee through the portal this offseason. She’s also the first forward, joining guards Avery Mills from Liberty and Naomi White from Northern Arizona.
The Lady Vols will need to add more forwards for next season’s lineup, though, with the only incoming freshman a four-star guard in Gabby Minus.
Tennessee is returning no players from last season’s team, with each potential returner entering the transfer portal, as well. So far, two have announced their next destination. That includes Alyssa Latham joining the ACC at Virginia Tech and Talaysia Cooper staying in the SEC at Ole Miss.
