Highly Touted Notre Dame Transfer Forward Visiting Tennessee Basketball This Week

Notre Dame transfer wing Jalen Haralson is visiting Tennessee basketball this, multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation told RTI on Monday. Haralson arrives in Knoxville Tuesday evening before departing on Wednesday night.

Haralson is coming off a freshman season where he averaged 16.2 points, four rebounds and 2.6 assists per game for the Fighting Irish. The 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward played both on the wing and a power forward for Notre Dame last season and shot 51.5% from the field and 20% from three-point range.

A former McDonald’s All-American, Haralson is down to a top three that includes North Carolina, Ohio State and Tennessee according to Jon Rothstein.

The Indiana native scored 20-plus points eight times during his freshman season including three times in Notre Dame’s final four games of the season.

Haralson’s 33.9% usage rate was not only the highest on Notre Dame’s team but the ninth highest of any player in the country. For comparison sake, Ja’Kobi Gillespie’s 29.1% usage rate was the highest on Tennessee’s roster last season.

Haralson ranks as a four-star and the No. 23 player in the transfer portal according to 247sports. On3 ranks Haralson as a four-star and the No. 37 player in the portal while EvanMiya ranks him as a four-star and the No. 62 player in the portal.

Tennessee basketball has been extremely active in the transfer portal to date. The Vols lost six players in the portal this offseason including Bishop Boswell, Amari Evans, Clarence Massamba, J.P. Estrella, Jaylen Carey and Cade Phillips.

The Vols have landed three commitments to date including Belmont sharpshooter Tyler Lundblade, Cal combo guard Dai Dai Ames and Loyola (Chicago) center Miles Rubin.

It’s poised to be another busy week for Tennessee in the portal. They’re hosting VCU star transfer guard Terrence Hill Jr. on a visit Wednesday and are looking to line up a small handful of other visits later in the week.

Tennessee currently has five scholarships to work with as it puts together its roster for the 2025-26 season. If Nate Ament declares for the NBA Draft then they will have six scholarships to work with.
