Tennessee Fans Do Their Part In Vols’ Pursuit Of Top Transfer Target

VCU transfer combo guard Terrence Hill Jr. arrived in Knoxville for an official visit with Tennessee basketball on Wednesday evening as Rick Barnes and his staff look to land one of the top players in the transfer portal.

Vol nation is helping Tennessee out in the process, painting “The Rock” on campus “Come Home Terrence” with his No. 6 jersey also painted on it.

A Portland native, Hill is coming off an official visit at Kansas earlier this week before his trip to Tennessee. It’s the only other visit Hill has gone on at this point.

Hill is coming off a standout sophomore season at VCU where he averaged 15 points, 2.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. He is a talented and efficient scorer, shooting 46.6% from the field and made 81 three-pointers at a 37% clip last season.

The 6-foot-3 guard earned First Team A10 honors last season with VCU and was stellar in the Rams’ two NCAA Tournament wins. The combo guard played all 40 minutes and totaled 34 points, five assists and five rebounds in VCU’s win over North Carolina before totaling 17 points and seven rebounds in the Round of 32 loss against Illinois.

247sports ranks Hill as a four-star transfer and the No. 18 player in the portal while On3 ranks him as a four-star and the No. 24 player in the portal. Hill ranks as a four-star and the No. 124 player in the portal according to EvanMiya.

Hill is the fourth transfer that Tennessee has hosted on a visit so far this spring. The Vols have landed commitments from the three others— Cal combo guard Dai Dai Ames, Belmont sharpshooter Tyler Lundblade and Loyola (Chicago) center Miles Rubin.

The Vols are also looking to secure a commitment from four-star prep prospect Chris Washington Jr as he announces his decision on Thursday afternoon. Tennessee hosted Washington on a visit on Tuesday.

Bares and the Vols are also looking to land a commitment from highly touted Wake Forest transfer guard Juke Harris.
