
As Tennessee Football works to build its 2027 recruiting class, it looks like they’ve taken a step toward potentially adding another player from the Volunteer State.
Class of 2027 offensive lineman Rance Brown posted his official Top 5 finalists list on Friday, with Tennessee making the cut. The Volunteers sit alongside Auburn, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle will play for Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, TN, during his senior season after previously playing for Southside High School in Alabama. He’ll be teammates with Tennessee wide receiver commit Kesean Bowman, who is UT’s highest-rated commitment so far in the 2027 class as a four-star prospect. Bowman committed to Tennessee three weeks ago.

Brown is listed as a three-star prospect on 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s tagged as the No. 1,018 player in the class, the No. 82 offensive tackle in the cycle, and the No. 38 player from the state of Tennessee.
Josh Heupel has six commitments in Tennessee’s 2027 recruiting class, which is currently headlined by four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman. Also in the class are four-star offensive lineman Princeton Uwaifo, four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, three-star athlete Jaden Butler, three-star linebacker JP Peace, and three-star quarterback Derrick Baker. Bowman, Uwaifo, Butler, and Peace are all from the Volunteer State.
247Sports currently has Tennessee’s class ranked 24th in the nation. The Vols are coming off a stellar 2026 signing class, which ranked No. 9 in the nation.
